Siding calculators you can run before you call anyone

Free, no sign-up, no personal information. Each tool shows how it calculates its answer so you can judge how much to trust it. Every result is directional; the number that matters is the written bid from a contractor who has seen your walls.

What each tool does

  • Siding cost estimator

A ballpark installed cost by material, project type, and home complexity.

    Inputs
Material, wall area, project type, complexity
    How it calculates
Multiplies your wall area by a per-square-foot band for the material, then applies a project-type and complexity factor. The split into materials, labor, and permits/disposal is a typical proportion, not a bid.

  • Siding measurement calculator

Wall area, siding squares, waste allowance, and boxes to order from your footprint.

    Inputs
Footprint length and width, stories, gable ends, openings, complexity
    How it calculates
Perimeter × 9 ft per story, plus a triangle for each gable end, minus about 18 sq ft per window and door, then a waste factor of 10–20% by wall complexity. One square is 100 sq ft.

  • State cost calculators

The cost estimator tuned to one state: code-driven adders and regional material toggles.

    Inputs
Pick a state, then material, wall area, project type, complexity
    How it calculates
Same base math as the cost estimator, plus line items a compliant job in that state carries (for example wind-rated fasteners or a required weather-resistive barrier), sourced in each state guide.

Where the numbers come from

The per-square-foot bands behind the cost tools are typical installed ranges for each material, the same ranges published in the siding types table and sourced in the material comparison. They are not quotes we have collected. State calculators add the code-required line items documented in each state guide. Where a page gives a range, the low end assumes a simple single-story wall and the high end a multi-story wall with many corners and openings.
